Kelly Field opened in April 2001 on the heels of the program's first back-to-back 40-win seasons and initial NCAA Regional appearances in 1999 and 2000. Since knocking off No. 1 UCLA on April 20, 2001 to open the facility, the Beavers have won over 60 percent of their games at home, including amassing nearly 50 wins over nationally ranked opponents.
The complex features 750 bleacher backed seats, a concession and restroom facility. The sunken dugouts each contain a restroom for players as well as large storage areas. The home dugout also features overhead heaters.
Prior to the start of the 2019 season, the complex was upgraded to feature field lights, allowing the Beavers to play home games at night for the first time at the start of the 2019 season.
During that same year, a generous investment was made by Jack '77 and Kelly '77 Berka, which allowed Oregon State Athletics to install a new competition surface and an indoor practice facility at the softball field. The field was upgraded to a new turf outfield, highlighted by a Beaver head in center field, complimented by a DuraEdge Collegiate infield making the Oregon State softball field one of the top playing surfaces in the country. A new hitting facility was added prior to the 2021 campaign, giving the Beavers a state-of-the art space which includes three batting lanes. In recognition of this gift, the softball field was renamed "Kelly Field".
The closed press box facility, one of the best in the Pac-12, allows ample seating for six scorers in the main booth with two smaller television/radio booths located on both sides. A state-of-the-art sound and public address system are housed in the press box.
The facility was home of the 2006 NCAA Regional and Super Regional Tournaments - with Oregon State winning both, and earning its first-ever trip to the NCAA Women's College World Series. Beaver fans attending games at the OSU Softball Complex have witnessed numerous outstanding performances, including two no-hitters and the exploits of six All-America selections. Oregon State set a program attendance record in 2018, as 1,410 fans witness a matchup with Oregon on March 31.
An enhanced fan experience is coming to Oregon State University's Kelly Field with the debut of a new video board in spring 2023. See the full release here.
