OSU Starts Final Weekend With Loss

TUCSON, Ariz. - Oregon State started its final weekend of the women's soccer season with a 4-1 loss to Arizona in Pacific-10 play Friday night at Murphey Stadium. The Beavers (8-10-1 overall, 1-7-0 Pacific-10) wrap up the schedule with a game at Arizona State on Sunday at 11 a.m.
After falling behind 1-0 early, the Beavers tied the game at 1-1 when Dante Lipfert rebounded Coral Slater's shot in the 26th minute. But the Wildcats (7-10-1, 1-7-0) scored twice in the next 90 seconds to take control of the contest, then added a final score in the 67th minute.
The Beavers outshot the Wildcats 17-11 in the contest and Arizona goalkeeper Inger Airheart had to make 10 saves on OSU shots while Oregon State keepers Elizabeth Pease and Jerika Duran combined for three saves.
Arizona's Kristi Lorona had a hat trick in the game, scoring the first two goals and the final goal for the Wildcats while Chrissy Sanford had the third Arizona tally. The Wildcats' final three goals were all unassisted, coming as Lorona or Sanford broke past the Beaver defense.
