AS A JUNIOR (2001): Competed on bars in all 14 meets, vault in every meet but one and floor in every meet but two... Averaged 9.586 on bars, with a career-high of 9.775 in the Shanico Inn-vitational... Averaged a 9.531 on vault... Had a career-high 9.80 – a perfect score for her vault, a handspring front tuck – at the Shanico Inn-vitational... Stepped up to the challenge at regionals with a trip to nationals on the line... After the Beavers had three falls on floor in the second-to-last rotation, they knew they'd have to hit vault to advance to nationals... Meduna responded with a 9.70 vault – tying her second-best score of the year on that event... Averaged 9.642 on floor, with a season-high of 9.80 against Boise State... Named the team's Most Improved Gymnast at the end of the season.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2000): Competed on vault in six meets (nine, including three exhibitions)... Scored a career-best 9.50 on the event against Washington and averaged a 9.233 for the year... Made the lineup on bars and floor twice... Her top score on bars was a career-high 9.325 at Brigham Young... Her best outing on floor was a 9.725, also at BYU... Also performed two exhibitions on bars and one on floor.
AS A FRESHMAN (1999): Competed in at least one event in every meet... Most often competed on floor, seeing action on that event in eight meets... Scored back-to-back 9.825's (a season-high) on floor versus Utah and at the Pacific-10 Championship... Top score on beam was a 9.50 at Arizona... Season-high on vault was a 9.45 against California.
PRE-OREGON STATE: Elite level gymnast out of Dynamo Gymnastics in Edmond, Oklahoma... Started gymnastics at age 3 and left home in Nebraska at age 12 to train in Oklahoma... Competed at the Goodwill Games in Russia and at the Pacific Alliance Championships in New Zealand in 1994... The U.S. placed first as a team and Soni placed 10th all-around at the Pacific Alliance meet... Also competed in France and Australia...
