OREGON STATE: (2004) Melena is one of 16 returning letterwinners and 12 returning starters... one of the top and most experienced backs in the Pac-10... enters her senior year having started 58 of 59 career games... the only game she has missed in her career was an Oct. 13, 2002 match against Washington... coach Fennah's comments: "Melena has been the rock of our defense. She just finds a way to get it done. It doesn't sound like much, but that's a big compliment. She just gets it done." (2003) Scored her first and only career goal against Weber State... two points, two shots... started all 20 games... team co-captain... honorable mention Academic All-Pac-10.
(2002) Started 18 of 19 games as a member of OSU's back line that recorded six shutouts... did not start against Pacific on Sept. 22, breaking a string of 27 starts... three shots. (2001) One of two true freshmen (other was Brandy Madle) to earn starting spots in 2001... started all 20 games... tallied an assist in a 2-1 win over Gonzaga... part of a defense that combined for three shutouts on the year.
