
Swimming Completes Day Three; Athletes Achieve Consideration Times

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Oregon State swim team finished the third day of competition today at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. for the Pac-12 Championships.
The Beavers competed in the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke and the 400-yard medley relay. Oregon State had four athletes qualify for the finals of their respective events.
For the second day in a row, Crystal Kibby qualified for the finals in her event. She competed in the 400-yard individual medley qualifying for the finals with a preliminary time of 4:19.73, which was her fastest time this season.
In the finals for the 400-yard individual medley Kibby finished in 16th place overall with a time of 4:20.06. With her preliminary time of 4:19.73 she moves into seventh place in that event all-time at Oregon State.
Both Rachel O'Brien and Jenni Dole achieved NCAA consideration times in the 100-yard butterfly and qualified for the finals in the event. O'Brien swam a time of 53.85 in the preliminaries while Dole finished with a time of 54.57.
In the finals, O'Brien finished in 12th place overall and finished with a time of 53.45, which is the fastest time in the 100-butterfly swam by a Beaver this season. Dole finished 21st place overall with a time of 54.52.
The Beavers had 12 competitors in the 200-yard freestyle, but unfortunately none of them were able to qualify for the finals. Dakota Bloch, Lauren Allen, Amanda Rose, Allison Gillespie, Margo Clinton, Maggie Hanson and Delise Batiza all had season best times in the event.
Marisa Warman just narrowly missed out of the 100-yard breaststroke finals finishing with a preliminary time of 1:04.63, which was the fastest time she has swam this season in the event. Kibby, Gillespie, Rose and Melissa Myers also all swam their best times of the season in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Shelby Webber and Dole both qualified for the finals of the 100-yard backstroke and were able to notch NCAA consideration times in the process. Dole finished with a preliminary time of 54.11, while Webber swam a time of 54.76.
In the finals, Dole finished in 15th place overall with a time of 54.26. Webber finished the finals of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.93.
Oregon State finished the day by competing in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Dole, Webber, Kibby and O'Brien finished in eighth place overall with a time of 3:43.79, which was the second fastest time for the Beavers in that event this season.
The Beavers are currently in eighth place and will return to action tomorrow when they compete in the final day of competition. Oregon State will compete in the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
