AUBURN, Ala. – Rachel O'Brien was the lone swimmer representing the Oregon State Beavers at the 2012 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend in Auburn, Ala.
O'Brien competed in the 100-yard butterfly on Friday and the 200-yard butterfly on Thursday. In the 100-yard butterfly preliminary race, O'Brien finished in 37th place. She finished with a time of 53.97.
During day two of her competition, she competed in the 200-yard butterfly. O'Brien finished in 17th place in the preliminary race with a time of 1:56.87 and was one spot shy of earning All-American status.
"Rachel finished up the season with an excellent morning swim at the NCAA Championships," head coach Larry Liebowitz said. "She just missed out by one place of making the finals and by the same margin All-American status. She had a great year this season and her performance at the NCAA's was much improved over her trip here during her Sophmore year. She is already excited for next year's meet."
O'Brien finished the season nine dual wins to close out the season for the Beavers. She is currently third all-time at Oregon State in the 100-yard butterfly and second all-time in the 200-yard butterfly.
