CORVALLIS, Ore. – Sophomore Sammy Harrison tallied two first-place finishes Friday afternoon, as the Oregon State swimming team fell to Stanford 170-88 at Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis, Ore. Harrison placed first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:53.08, before winning the 500 freestyle at 4:51.98. She also took a fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle (52.87).
“We had some girls reach their personal-bests today, and that falls in line with what we're trying to do,” said head coach Larry Liebowitz. “We're moving in the right direction. Our girls were better underwater and they were stronger at the ends of races. We just need to stay the course and keep positive. Our girls did a really awesome job.”
Senior Crystal Kibby recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.28) and the 200 breaststroke (2:22.92). Freshman Czsarina Isleta followed Kibby in the 200 breaststroke, taking fourth with a time of 2:25.43. Sophomore Amani Amr took third in the 100 backstroke at 56.53, before placing fourth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.12.
