
Harrison Leads OSU With Two Freestyle Wins at USC

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Senior Sammy Harrison posted her best times of the season to earn victories in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle events, but the Oregon State swimming team fell in a Pac-12 dual meet to the USC Trojans, 164-90, on Friday at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
Harrison swam the fourth-fastest 1,000-yard freestyle time in Oregon State history, finishing first in the event with a time of 10:05.96. The Henderson, Nev. native set the program record with a time of 9:35.36 last season.
Harrison continued a strong outing with a victory in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall first with a time of 4:56.46 for a margin of victory over five seconds. Her 500 freestyle time on Friday was the ninth-best in school history.
Junior Sophie MacEwan was Oregon State's next-highest finisher, placing second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.43. Junior Czsarina Isleta continued her solid 2015-16 campaign with a third-place finish and time of 2:21.12 in the 200 breaststroke.
Rounding out Oregon State's top performers were senior Constance Toulemonde, who placed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.85, as well as freshman Megan Lam, who placed third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.13.
The Oregon State swimming team returns to action Saturday for a meet at UCLA. The Beavers will compete in a meet against the Bruins and UC-Santa Barbara at noon PT.
Following action this weekend, Oregon State will take a week off before returning to action against Pacific and Fresno State on Saturday, Nov. 7. The meet from Stockton, Calif. is set to begin at 11 a.m. PT.
