
Beavers Fall at Tri-Meet

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Oregon State women's swimming team fell in today's tri-meet at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center at the University of Arizona. The Beavers suffered losses to Northern Arizona, 167-125, New Mexico State, 168-126 and Arizona 213-77.

Oregon State recorded its first event win against Northern Arizona and New Mexico State as the Beavers 200-yard medley relay—made up of Felicia Anderson, Corrine Shigeta, Andrea Young and Sophie MacEwan—finished with a time of 1:45.69. Arizona's A and B teams took first and second place.

Freshman Felicia Anderson took third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.04; less than a half a second behind the leader. Anderson also recorded a second place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.28.

Senior Sophie MacEwan picked up a first place finish against NAU and NMSU in the 50-yard freestyle with a touch at 24.29. The Wildcats took the first three places. Senior Anni Hecker added points for the Beavers against NMSU in the 100-yard freestyle after taking first place with a time of 53.46.

Junior Corrine Shigeta finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.77, followed by junior Allie Kilroy with a touch at 2:24.49. NAU and NMSU took first and second place, respectfully.

Senior Andrea Young placed high in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.38; finishing less than a second behind the leader Arizona.

Senior Czsarina Isleta and Shigeta both finished well in the 200-yard IM clocking times of 2:10.76 and 2:12.63, respectfully, to add points for Oregon State.

The Beavers ended the meet with a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.34. The team included Andrea Young, Annie Hecker, Felecia Anderson and Sophie MacEwan.

Oregon State will face Arizona State tomorrow at noon in Tempe, Arizona before returning to Corvallis for its final weekend of the regular season, hosting Washington State and Idaho on Friday and Saturday at the Osborn Aquatic Center.
