Beavers In 13th Place at NCAA Regionals

LUBBOCK, Texas – A trio of Oregon State women's golfers shot a 4-over 76 to lead the Beavers in the opening round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regionals on Monday.
Oregon State concluded the first round with an 18-over 306 at the par-71, 6,593-yard Rawls Course and sits in 13th place in the 18-team field.
The top six teams at the Lubbock Regional will advance to the NCAA National Championships, which will be held May 19-24 at Rich Harvest Farms, in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Oregon State is nine strokes out of the top six, as Arizona State (5-over 293) leads, Oregon (6-over 294) is second, Texas Tech (8-over 296) is third, UCLA and BYU (9-over 297) are tied for fourth and San Diego State (10-over 298) is sixth.
The second round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 8 a.m. CT (6 a.m. PT) on Tuesday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Junior Hannah Swanson, junior Susie Cavanagh and sophomore Olivia Benzin all carded a 4-over 76 to lead Oregon State. Cavanagh had a team-best four birdies, while Swanson had three and Benzin finished with one.
Senior Elyse Smidinger fired a 6-over 78 to make up the Beavers' scoring in the first round. Freshman Nicole Schroeder wrapped up play with an 8-over 80.
