Beavers, Red Hawks, and Lakers will face off at Osborn Aquatic Center
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Beaver Swim will host the Seattle University Red Hawks and the Southwest Oregon Community College Lakers Friday night for this year's DAM Cancer Meet.
Oregon State is coming off of a two week break from meet competition after the home meet against Arizona on October 27th where freshmen Chloe Bowman and Lindsay Swail put up big races with both of them placing in the top three in multiple events.
"We've learned at all of our meets so far areas we need to improve as individuals and as a team, so that is what we focus on fixing on a meet to meet basis," Buffin said. "It should be a fun meet for us. There should be a lot of energy in the pool."
The Beavers have been swimming competitively with Pac-12 opponents over their last few meets and are looking for their week to week improvements to continue in the tri meet with SWOCC and SU.
"The message to the team every week is to evaluate and process how we are getting better every day," Buffin said. "How are we elevating ourselves, how are we competing in practices, how are we bringing consistent energy. Meet week isn't any different, it just gives us an opportunity to see results from our hard work."
The Beavers will be wearing special pink uniforms this season for the DAM Cancer meet.
"The Dam Cancer meet is important for us to be able to recognize everybody that has fought that battle," Buffin said. "Last year we had a great story with the family of a former swimmer who unfortunately lost her battle coming back and really touching a lot of members of this community and of our program, and we want to create more of that."
The DAM Cancer meet, and all DAM Cancer events support the Corvallis Clinic's Project H.E.R. The Beavers will be hosting special events during the meet.
"This year we are going to be doing a silent auction, so we want as many people as possible to be at this meet to be able to participate in that," Buffin said. "All the money that we raise Friday evening will go to Project H.E.R to continue to support this community."
The meet is scheduled for 5 p.m. on November 16th at Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis.
