March 31, 2018 | Men's Golf
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Shawn Lu recorded a top-10 finish for the second-consecutive tournament, this time at The Goodwin on Saturday.
Â
Lu, a sophomore from Honolulu, Hawai'i, finished in a tie for 10th place with a 4-under 73-65-71--209 at the par-71, 7,143-yard TPC Harding Park. The 4-under 209 is his best score in a 54-hole tournament bettering the 3-under 210 he shot at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational this past fall.
Â
It's the third time Lu has posted a top-10 finish during his collegiate career. He finished in a career-best tie for fifth place at the Duck Invitational earlier this week and a tie for 10th place at the El Macero Classic last spring.
Â
The Beavers concluded the three-day, 54-hole tournament in a tie for 16th place with a 20-over 290-283-299--872. The competitive 26-team field featured 11 teams ranked among the top 50 in the golfstat.com rankings.
Â
No. 9 Oklahoma won the team title with a 24-under 828 and Oregon's Norman Xiong claimed medalist honors with a 15-under 198.
