
Men’s Golf In Fifth After First Day In New York

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. – The Oregon State men's golf team finds itself in fifth place after one day at the Hamptons Intercollegiate, which got underway Monday at the par-72, 6,676-yard Maidstone Golf Club.

Oregon State, along with the rest of the field, had a rough first round, but the Beavers bounced back from 25-over par with a strong second 18. OSU finished the second round 7-over as a team, with Carson Barry pacing the contingent with a 1-under 71 in the second round.

The Beavers head into the final day fifth. OSU was one of six teams that was able to finish all 36 holes; four teams had their play suspended due to darkness.

Mateo Fuenmayor was close behind Barry by shooting at par-72, and he leads the OSU contingent with a 6-over 150 after 36 holes. He'll enter the third and final round tied for 13th after tallying six birdies on Monday.

Collin Hodgkinson had the most even day for the Beavers, shooting a 4-over 76 in each round. He's tied with Barry at 20th. Hodgkinson made seven birdies on the day.

Barry is also at 8-over 152 after the first 36 holes. He leads the Beavers with eight birdies, six of which were made in his second round of action.

Jackson Lake finds himself tied for 30th with an 11-over 155. He made three birdies in a 5-over 77 second round, and two when finishing at 6-over in round one.

Rylan Johnson, like Barry, improved in the second round of play. He shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for 39th with a 14-over 158 entering the third and final round. He had four birdies on the day.

Sean Kato is in the competition as an individual, and enters the final day of play tied for 37th. He is at 13-over 139 and has four holes remaining in the second round before moving on to the third.

The third and final round of the tournament is set for Tuesday morning.
