CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's soccer team fell to No. 17 Stanford 4-0 Thursday evening at Lorenz Field.
The Cardinal struck early on, heading home a corner kick less than two minutes into the contest. Stanford notched a second goal in the 20th minute.
Oregon State got on the front-foot late in the first half, culminating with Logan Farrington nearly pulling a goal back on a header at the back post that was saved. Stanford headed to the intermission leading by two.
The Beavers came out attacking to start the second half, creating three shots in quick succession within the first 10 minutes for the period. Ellis Spikner forced a sliding block in the 57th minute, as he cut onto his left foot and took aim from eight yards out.
Stanford tacked on a third goal in the 62nd minute, and added a fourth in the 81st to take the win.
The Beavers will be back at Lorenz Field Sunday afternoon when they host California.
