Lake, Beavers Lead After Day One Of Oregon State Invitational

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Jackson Lake shot a 5-under 66 in the opening round of the Oregon State Invitational to lead the pack after two rounds at the par-71, 7,384-yard Trysting Tree Golf Course.
Lake and the Beavers enter the third and final round with the lead after finishing at ss-under over the first 36 holes. Oregon State shot a 14-under 270 in the first round to establish the lead, then held on as 13 of the 14 teams at the event shot over par in the second round.
Lake led the field with nine birdies over the first 36 Monday. He was followed by Rylan Johnson, who had eight. Johnson ended the day tied for 15th with a 1-over 143. He shot a 2-under 69 in the first round.
All five Beavers who competed as a part of the team finished under par in the first round. Mateo Fuenmayor matched Lake with a 5-under 66, while Brandon Eyre, like Johnson, was 2-under. Stanley Lin rounded out the five with a 1-under 70.
Eyre had the best second-round tally, shooting a 71. He is 2-under overall and tied for fourth entering day two.
Fuenmayor is tied for 11th after shooting at par over the first 36, while Lin is 7-over at 149.
The Beavers are eight shots ahead of No. 2 Arkansas State, which ended Monday at 2-over. Lake, for the individual lead, is one better than Arizona State's Nicholas Prieto, who is competing as an individual.
All 10 Beavers competed on the day, with five as individuals. The group was led by Collin Hodgkinson, who posted a 1-under 70 to end the day with a 4-over 146. He was followed by Nicolas Quintero, who opened the day 1-under. He is just behind Hodgkinson, who is tied for 32nd. Quintero is tied for 38th with a 5-over 147.
Alfred Raja is tied for 56th at 7-over, while Zach Miller and Brody Marconi each ended the day with a 12-over 154 and are tied for 79th.
The third and final round of the event is set to get underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Fans are invited to come to Trysting Tree and watch the round, free of charge.
