Torree Hawken Joins Women’s Rowing Coaching Staff
November 12, 2024 | Women's Rowing
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's rowing Head Coach Michael Eichler announced on Tuesday that former Beaver student-athlete Torree Hawken has joined the coaching staff.
"I am excited to announce the addition of Torree to our coaching staff. She was a key member of this program over the last four years and helped build this program as an athlete in every imaginable way," Eichler said. "Her energy, enthusiasm and work ethic are top-tier and will fit perfectly with the staff. I look forward to working alongside her as she continues to build this program, now as a coach."
Hawken was a four-year member of the Oregon State women's rowing program, competing in 19 regattas and recently graduating after the 2024 Spring season.
"I'm excited to jump in with the athletes and staff to work as a catalyst for the development of the team in any way I can," Hawken said. "Utilizing my experience as an athlete will lead me as I gain new knowledge on the coaching side of things."
Having started her rowing career as a walk-on, as a freshman she helped the third eight to a fourth-place finish at the 2021 Pac-12 Championships before spending her sophomore and junior seasons with the second eight and varsity four.
As a senior in 2024, the Sweet Home, Ore., native was a key member of the Beaver program, competing with the varsity eight in all five spring regattas. Hawken and the Beavers beat Miami and Washington State during the season-opener and placed fourth at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing just behind a trio of opponents ranked in the top 10.
Beaver women's rowing recently completed its fall schedule and will return to action this upcoming spring.
