Beavers Score Season-High 197.600 in Home Victory

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State Gymnastics recorded a season-high score on each rotation for the second straight week, posting a season-best 197.600 inside Gill Coliseum on Friday night.
Karlie Chavez debuted a new vault, earning a 9.825 late in the first rotation. She carried that momentum into her floor routine later in the night, earning a season-best 9.875 and setting the stage for a floor lineup that finished with a 49.525 rotation score.
Sage Thompson followed Chavez and tied a career high, scoring 9.900 for her routine. Thompson was also in action with the vault squad, earning a 9.775, while contributing a 9.850 on the bars.
Sophia Esposito, who competed in three events for the second-consecutive week, followed Thompson in the floor lineup and posted her second-consecutive 9.850 on floor. The Melville, N.Y., native set a new career high on vault earlier in the meet with a 9.925, which resulted in her first event title of the season, before starting the beam lineup off with a 9.825.
In the five spot on floor was Kaitlin Garcia, who set a new career high with a 9.950, having entered Friday's competition with four 9.900s to her name previously; Garcia's 9.950 tied for the highest score in the meet, marking her first event title in 2025.
Rounding out the floor lineup was senior Jade Carey, who set the new season high all-around mark for any gymnast in the country with a 39.800. She twice saw 10s from at least one judge but couldn't get both, finishing the evening with a pair of 9.975s on bars and beam to go with a 9.950 on floor and 9.900 for her vault.
Though not in the floor lineup, several other Beavers had standout performances. Natalie Briones vaulted her way into a 9.850 before earning a 9.825 on the bars, while Francesca Caso (9.825) and Taylor DeVries (9.850) both had season-best marks on uneven bars; the Oregon State beam lineup saw five-consecutive gymnasts rattle off season-best scores: Olivia Buckner (9.850), Lauren Letzsch (9.900), Jennifer McMillan (9.900 – also ties a career high), Sydney Gonzales (9.800) and Carey (9.975).
Friday's performance that resulted in the highest team score since the 2023 NCAA Denver Regional on April 2, 2023, when the Beavers came within one tenth of a point of a trip to nationals with a 197.650.
Oregon State gymnastics returns to action next week in Auburn, Ala., competing against the Auburn Tigers in a meet set to be televised on ESPN2.
