Smolinski Leads Beavers On First Day In Maricopa

MARICOPA, Ariz. – Bradley Smolinski shot a 4-under 68 to lead the Oregon State men's golf team Friday on the first day of the National Golf Invitational by GolfWeek.

The event, beind held at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, finds Smolinski tied for fifth after 18 holes. He birdied five of 18 holes Friday to pace the Beavers, who are tied for eighth as a team with a 2-over 290.

Rylan Johnson, Collin Hodgkinson and Stanley Lin all tied for 29^th after day one with matching 2-over 74 rounds at the par-72, 7,375-yard course.

Lin led the Beavers with seven birdies, while Hodgkinson tallied five and Johnson posted two. Lin birdied each of the first four holes, and three on the back nine.
