CORVALLIS, Ore. – For the second consecutive week, Alana Marrs' performance set her apart from the pack as she was named the West Coast Conference's Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
In two matches last week, Marrs totaled 26 kills on 46 swings for a .435 hitting percentage on the offensive end with a pair of digs and five blocks on the defensive end. On Saturday in the nonconference finale, she totaled 15 kills – on 27 swings - in the five-set win over Portland State.
The Ellensburg, Wash., product is just one of two student-athletes to be named the league's Freshman of the Week in consecutive instances.
Marrs and the Beavers will open WCC play this week with home matches against Saint Mary's (Calif.) and Pacific.
