Beavers’ Streak Snapped At Nine In Loss To Portland
March 17, 2026 | Baseball
PORTLAND, Ore. – Four Oregon State pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts and Bryce Hubbard collected a pair of hits in the Beavers' 3-1 loss to Portland Tuesday night at Joe Etzel Field.
The Beavers loaded the bases with two down in the ninth inning. Hubbard doubled to open the inning, then watched as pinch hitters Ethan Porter and Bryson Glassco drew walks. But Portland's Kaden Segel got Jacob Galloway to fly out to left to end the game.
Connor Mendez, Wyatt Queen, Mason Pike and Tanner Douglas combined to hold the Pilots (11-7 overall) to six hits and four walks while striking out 11.
Mendez started and allowed four hits and two runs in 3 1/3 innings. He took the loss to drop to 0-1.
Tanner Douglas, in a return to Portland, struck out four in 2 2/3 scoreless innings.
The Beavers (14-5) scored their lone run in the third when Nyan Hayes came in from third on a bases-loaded wild pitch to Easton Talt.
The Pilots equaled the score on a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the third. UP went ahead with a single run in the fourth and gave itself an insurance run in the sixth.
Oregon State continues its eight-game road trip with three at UC Irvine. The series opens Friday night at 6 p.m. PT. The game will air live on the Beaver Sports Network and ESPN+.
