Talt’s Walkoff Single Sends Oregon State To Sweep Of Cal Poly

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Easton Talt drove an 0-1 pitch to right for a game-winning single in the ninth inning, completing an Oregon State comeback en route to a 3-2 Beavers win over Cal Poly Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium.
Talt took the 0-1 pitch from reliever Brady Estes and got it to land before right fielder Dylan Kordic could make a diving catch. That enabled Paul Vazquez to score from third, giving the Beavers their 28th win of the season.
AJ Singer, who hit a second-inning home run for the game's first tally, singled to open the ninth. He moved to second two batters later when Vazquez drew four straight balls. Singer then scored when Jacob Galloway doubled off the base of the fence in right. That brought up Talt two batters later who drove home the game-winning run.
Cal Poly scored its lone runs of the game on a solo home run by Kordic in the fifth and Nate Castellon in the seventh.
Singer went 2-for-4, and his second-inning home run marked his fourth of the season. Adam Haight also went 2-for-4 in the win.
Eric Segura started for Oregon State, holding Cal Poly to five hits and a run, his only blemish the home run in the fifth. He was backed by a trio of relievers in AJ Hutcheson, Zach Kmatz and Albert Roblez. Roblez, the final pitcher for the day for Oregon State, went 1 1/3 innings, striking out three. He got the win, his first of the year.
Corden Pettey started for Cal Poly, and allowed two runs and a hit in five innings. Nick Bonn took the loss, dropping to 0-3 after allowing two runs and two hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Oregon State heads to Hillsboro Tuesday for midweek matchup against Oregon. First pitch at Hillsboro Hops Ballpark is slated for 6:05 p.m. PT.
