Vazquez, Haight Power No. 6 Oregon State Past Hawai’i, 12-4
April 24, 2026 | Baseball
Vazquez went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI from the No. 6 hole, scoring three runs in the win. Bryson Glassco added two hits, including a double, and scored twice from the second spot in the order. Nyan Hayes drove in a run with a double, AJ Singer collected two hits and an RBI, and Tyler Inge went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a sacrifice from the bottom of the lineup. Easton Talt singled, walked and stole two bases as the leadoff man, and catcher Jacob Galloway reached three times on a hit, a walk and a hit by pitch.
The Beavers (31-9) jumped on Hawaii starter Isaiah Magdaleno immediately, scoring three runs in the first inning on three hits and adding a fourth in the second. Vazquez and Glassco lined doubles in a two-run third that pushed the lead to 6-1, and Inge brought in another run on a single in a two-run fifth that made it 8-3. Haight provided the exclamation point in the eighth, turning on a pitch from reliever Josiah Shipley for his third home run of the season and an 8-run cushion.
Magdaleno (4-4) was charged with six earned runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings as Hawaii (20-17) ran through five pitchers.
Dax Whitney worked 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs — three earned — on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts to improve to 6-1. He surrendered a leadoff homer to Kamana Nahaku in the first and a two-run shot to Tate Shimao in the third.
Noah Scott followed with 2 1/3 hitless innings of relief, walking one and striking out two.
Nahaku led Hawaii at the plate, going 2 for 3 with the home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored. Shimao added a hit and two RBIs.
Beavers and Rainbow Warriors continue the three-game series Saturday. The game will air live on KOIN and Pac-12 Insider.
