Morris, Proctor Guide Beavers To Series Win Over Air Force
May 16, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. — Freshman left-hander Trey Morris struck out six over 5 2/3 innings and Josh Proctor drove in four runs as No. 7 Oregon State cruised past Air Force 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Morris (6-0) was dominant from the jump, allowing just two hits and one earned run while keeping the Falcons off balance all afternoon. The lone blemish came on a solo home run by Walker Zapp in the fourth inning — a 391-foot shot to left center — but the southpaw responded by striking out Tripp Garrish to end the frame. Morris lowered his season ERA to 2.06 and has yet to take a loss in 15 appearances, seven of which have been starts/
Proctor, also a freshman, provided the offensive punch. He singled home Adam Haight in the second inning to open the scoring, then delivered another RBI single to short during a four-run third. He saved his biggest swing for the eighth, crushing a two-run homer 417 feet to left field off reliever Charlie Russell to push the lead to 8-1.
The bottom of Oregon State's lineup carried the entire offensive load. The Beavers' Nos. 6-through-9 hitters — Haight, Proctor, catcher Jacob Galloway and shortstop Tyler Inge — accounted for all eight of the team's hits. The top five spots in the order did not record a hit but did combine for five walks.
Haight reached base all four times he came to the plate, drawing a walk, getting hit by a pitch twice and bunting for a single that set up the second-inning rally. Galloway went 2-for-4 with a two-run single through the right side in the third that blew the game open, then added a double to right center in the eighth. Inge chipped in two singles, including a bunt hit in the sixth and an infield knock in the eighth that extended the late rally.
Oregon State broke through in the second when Haight bunted for a hit and reached second on a throwing error by third baseman Landon Boyd. Proctor followed with a single through the right side to make it 1-0.
The Beavers then sent nine men to the plate in a four-run third. Easton Talt walked and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and groundout. After Paul Vazquez and Ethan Porter drew back-to-back walks to load the bases, Air Force starter Bowen Brantingham exited having thrown 53 pitches in 2 2/3 innings. Reliever Easton Miller immediately hit Haight to force home a run, Proctor singled in another, and Galloway cleared the bases with his two-run knock to make it 5-0.
The Beavers' bullpen was sharp. AJ Hutcheson struck out three in 1 1/3 innings, while Isaac Yeager, Tanner Douglas and Albert Roblez combined to strike out five in two scoreless frames.
Air Force (25-26) managed only three hits — two by Zapp and a double by Luke Elmore in the eighth. Garrish struck out four times.
