Vazquez Doubles To Walk Off CSUN In The 11th
May 02, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. — Paul Vazquez laced a walk-off double down the left-field line in the 11th inning Saturday, scoring AJ Singer to give No. 6 Oregon State a 6-5 victory over CSUN at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Vazquez worked a 1-1 count before driving a Cody Carson offering toward the corner in left. Singer, who had drawn a leadoff walk, scored to send the 4,103 fans in attendance home with a win.
The double was the third hit of the afternoon for Vazquez, who finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored. On the season, the sophomore infielder is batting .301 with 27 RBI and is now responsible for three multi-hit games in his last five starts.
The go-ahead run could not have happened without Isaac Yeager. The senior right-hander entered with the Beavers trailing 5-3 in the eighth inning and did not allow a run over the final four frames. Yeager struck out seven, permitted just two hits and a walk, and escaped the 10th inning unscathed after CSUN loaded the bases with two outs — forcing a fielder's choice at third to strand the threat.
Yeager improved to 6-1 with the win. He carries a 1.74 ERA over 31 innings and his seven strikeouts Saturday pushed his season total to 39. The righty has now allowed just six earned runs all year across 18 appearances.
Eric Segura started and struck out six over five innings, working around three runs — two earned — on two hits.
Bryson Glassco delivered the swing that made Yeager's effort count. The junior entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh with one out and runners on second and third, and promptly lined a single up the middle off Logan Miller to score both Vazquez and pinch runner Nyan Hayes, evening the score at 5.
Oregon State's three-run third inning erased a 3-0 deficit. After Easton Talt led off with a single and Singer followed with a single to right that pushed Talt to third, Bryce Hubbard plated the first run with a sacrifice fly to center. Singer stole second and Vazquez singled to push Singer to third. A hit batsman loaded the bases, and Adam Haight pulled a single up the middle to score both Singer and Vazquez and tie the game at 3. Haight finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and now has 24 on the year.
CSUN had scored twice in the top of the third to build its lead to 3-0 before Oregon State answered.
Singer finished 1-for-3 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch, and two runs scored. He has drawn 27 walks on the season, tied for the most on the team. Jacob Galloway went 2-for-4 with a walk and a 10th-inning double down the right-field line that put the tying run 90 feet away, though Oregon State stranded two in that frame and needed a final turn.
Oregon State improved to 35-11 with the win. CSUN dropped to 24-21.
The teams complete the three-game series Sunday with a 1:05 p.m. PT first pitch at Goss Stadium.
