Oregon State Battles But Beavers' Season Ends In Regional Play
May 31, 2026 | Baseball
EUGENE, Ore. – Wyatt Queen struck out seven over 4 2/3 innings, but Oregon State fell 4-1 to 11th-seeded Oregon on Sunday night at PK Park.
Queen allowed one run on four hits and walked none, throwing 63 pitches before handing off a 1-1 game with two outs in the fifth. He struck out the side in the fourth and stranded a runner in the fifth, but the Beavers (45-14) couldn't hold the tie behind him.
Oregon State scored its only run in the second. Adam Haight led off with a single to right and took second on Jacob Galloway's sacrifice bunt. After Jacob Krieg struck out, Tyler Inge walked to put two on, and Easton Talt lined a two-out single to right-center to bring Haight home.
The game turned in the seventh. Burke-Lee Mabeus drew a leadoff walk and Maddox Molony lined a single up the middle, and after Mabeus and Molony moved up, Jax Gimenez walked to load the bases against Isaac Yeager. A pitching change brought in Albert Roblez, but Jack Brooks walked with the bases full to force in a run and Cooney followed with another bases-loaded walk. Angel Laya then grounded into a fielder's choice that scored a third. All three runs were charged to Yeager, who fell to 6-2 on the year.
Talt finished 3-for-5 with a double and the RBI, and Haight reached all four times he batted, going 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. The two combined for five of the Beavers' seven hits. Roblez and Zach Edwards closed out the final innings, with Edwards picking off a runner and striking out two.
Oregon (43-16) starter Miles Gosztola earned the win with eight strikeouts over six innings, and Devin Bell worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 12th save.
Oregon State won 45 games for the 11th time in program history and fourth under Mitch Canham.
