CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State right-handed pitcher Dax Whitney was named a second-team All-American by D1Baseball.com on Thursday. It's his sixth All-American honor of 2026, becoming the first Beaver to earn that many since Travis Bazzana in 2024.
He's also been named a first-team selection by the College Baseball Foundation, Baseball America, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Perfect Game. He was also a second-teamer per the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Whitney, from Blackfoot, Idaho, finished the season with a 6-1 record and 2.00 earned run average. He started 11 games, striking out 104 over 63 innings. He held opponents to 42 hits and .185 batting average while posting a 0.95 WHIP.
Six other Beavers, in addition to Whitney and Bazzana, have earned six honors in the same season. They include Nick Madrigal (2017), Jake Thompson (2017), Adley Rutschman (2018 and 2019), Trevor Larnach (2018), Jacob Melton (2022) and Cooper Hjerpe (2022).
Whitney is also the first Oregon State right-handed pitcher to earn All-American honors in back-to-back seasons since Jonah Nickerson in 2005 and 2006.
