(1997-98--Sophomore)--Sissel had a big year for OSU...she finished the season with 10 straight double figure scoring games and ranked among Pac-10 leaders in four departments, scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field goal accuracy...Sissel tied her career high in points with 21 in the season finale against Stanford...her shooting percentage of .557 ranks eighth on the all-time Beaver single season top 10 list... she finished second in the Pac-10 in blocked shots with 46 and 1.70 per game; third in field goal accuracy at .557; 17th in scoring (10.9) and 11th in rebounding (6.4)...her 46 blocked shots ties her for fifth on OSU’s single season list and her 56 career blocks already has her in ninth place on the Beavers’ career list... Sissel had 10 strong games in a row to finish the season, starting against Oregon at Gill Coliseum (1/29) when she scored 19 points and matched a career high with 5 block shots...she had 17 double-figure scoring games for the season and has 19 in her career...in her last 10 games of the season, Sissel scored 153 points, pulled down 69 rebounds and blocked 20 shots and shot .555 (61-110) from the field...Pierce had a great game at Oregon (2/27) with a career high 17 rebounds and 16 points for her fifth season and career double-double...the 17 rebounds equals the fourth highest single-game rebound performance by an OSU individual, but ranks 11th on the single-game list because of ties... he was OSU’s most productive and most consistent player during the preseason, leading the Beavers in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and shooting percentage, plus ranking among the Pac-10 leaders in all four departments...with the start of Pac-10 play in January, she scored in double figures 12 times, including her current streak of 10 in a row...she had scored only 12 points in the four games prior to the Oregon game at Gill Coliseum, including being shutout for the first time this season in the Arizona (1/24) game at home...she had 6 points and 5 rebounds vs. UCLA (1/8) at home and bounced back with 10 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double game of the season against USC (1/10) at Gill Coliseum...she was just four rebounds shy of having four additional double-double games during the season...in OSU’s Pac-10 opener at Stanford (1/2), Sissel scored only 2 points and failed to get a rebound in 5 minutes of action...her season improvement is shown by the fact he had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocked shots in the final game of the season against Stanford (3/7)...during OSU’s preseason Eastern road swing, Sissel produced a career best 5 blocked shots at Seton Hall (12/14), just one off the OSU school record for a single game, plus she had 10 points and 9 rebounds, just one rebound shy of a double-double...she had 18 points and 8 rebounds vs. Portland State (12/12)...she tallied a career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes against Iona (11/29) at the Diet Coke Shoot-out and followed that up with 18 points and a career high 13 rebounds against host Santa Clara (11/30) in the championship game in 29 minutes...those numbers earned her a spot on the all-tournament team...in a four-game span (Iona, Santa Clara, Portland State and Seton Hall), she scored 67 points, pulled down 40 rebounds, blocked 10 shots and shot .605 (26-43) from the field, while averaging 24 minutes of play...she earned a berth on the Diet Coke Shoot-out All-Tournament team and a nomination to the Pac-10 Conference for player of the week honors after posting back-to-back double-double games at the tournament...she started 20 games during the season...she posted her first career double-double in her first start as a collegian when she produced 12 points and 10 rebounds against Northern Arizona (11/19)...as a true freshman last year, Sissel had an outstanding season...she missed the first nine games of the season with a leg stress fracture...she scored 104 points (5.8 avg.) and was the Beavers’ sixth-leading scorer...she pulled down 75 rebounds (4.2 avg.) and she shot .520 from the field, the best mark on the squad...she shot .650 from the foul line, while averaging only 13.2 minutes per game...she has scored 399 career points (8.9 avg.) and hauled down 248 career rebounds (5.5 avg.) and has 56 career blocked shots in 45 games (20 starts)...she had a string of 11 games in a row in which she has blocked a shot stopped in the Arizona game at Corvallis, before bouncing back with five vs. Oregon...she blocked a shot in 23 of 27 games as a sophomore...Sissel was easily one of the most improved players on the OSU roster as a sophomore...Sissel continued to show great improvement as the season progressed as a freshman...she spent the entire summer prior to her sophomore season in Corvallis working out and she made tremendous progress in the areas of strength and conditioning, two factors which hindered her as a freshman...she has an outstanding shooting touch and great anticipation when it comes to blocking shots.
(1996-97--Freshman)--Sissel graduated from Wishkah High School in 1995 and signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Montana State for Judy Spoelstra...however, after Spoelstra was named head coach at Oregon State, Sissel asked to be let out of her letter of intent with Montana State and sat out the 1995-96 school year...she elected to join Spoelstra at Oregon State and entered OSU in 1996 as a first-year freshman...Sissel, a true freshman, enjoyed an outstanding rookie season...after missing the first nine games of the year with a leg stress fracture, Sissel performed very well as the first post player off the bench...she scored a total of 104 points (5.8 average) and was the Beavers' sixth-leading scorer...she pulled down 75 rebounds (4.2 average) and she shot .520 from the field, the best mark on the OSU squad...she shot .650 from the foul line...all of this while averaging only 13.2 minutes per game...Sissel played in a total of 18 games and scored in all but two of those games...she scored 17 points vs. UCLA and USC during OSU's homestand on 2/27 and 3/1...she had 10 points and 5 rebounds vs. UCLA...she posted a season and career high of 11 points vs. Washington State and she had 7 rebounds in a game twice, UCLA (2/2) and California (2/15)...she got stronger and improved her numbers with each game...she had the best two-game series of her career in OSU's road trip to the State of Washington, her home state...Sissel came up big at WSU (2/6) and Washington (2/8)...she had a career high 11 points at WSU...she was perfect from the field (4-4) and the free throw line (3-3), plus she had 5 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and a steal...she had 9 points and 4 rebounds at Washington...in 18 games, Sissel had 10 blocked shots...she had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the Stanford (2/13) and Cal (2/15) weekend at home and she had 13 points and 6 rebounds on the Arizona road swing.
WISHKAH VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL--Sissel played four years of basketball at Wishkah Valley High School, three years of volleyball and one year of softball...her high school team posted a three-year record of 82-5 with Sissel as the starting center...in four years, Sissel scored 1,456 points in 96 games for an average of 15.2 points per game...she pulled down 1,022 rebounds, an average of 10.6 per game...she shot .513 from the field and also blocked 521 shots in her prep career, an average of 5.1 per game...Wishkah Valley was 26-3 and fourth in the state of Washington in 1992-93; 27-2 and seventh in state in 1993-94 and was a perfect 29-0 and the state champs for B schools her senior year in 1994-95...as a senior, Sissel averaged 19.8 points a game and 9.2 rebounds a contest and posted a single-game bests of 31 points, 25 rebounds and 17 blocked shots...she averaged 17.5 points a game as a junior and 11.8 rebounds a game...Sissel averaged 13.1 points a game and 13.0 rebounds a game as a sophomore...as a freshman, she averaged 2.2 points and 5.3 rebounds a game...she had 175 blocked shots as a senior, 183 as a junior and 130 as a sophomore...Sissel was her team MVP each of her final three seasons...she was the league MVP (Pacific League) as a junior and senior and she earned all-league honors all three years...as a junior, Sissel was a BCI All-American...she was a second-team all-state tournament pick as a sophomore and first-team all-tournament choice as a senior...she was also named the Twin Valley Female High School Athlete of the Year following her senior year.
