Last Game
Beau Day went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs to send the sixth-ranked Oregon State baseball team to an 8-3 win over Utah Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium. Dylan Davis and Tyler Smith each had two RBI as well to help pace the Beavers to the series win over the Utes. Day singled four times to pace the club offensively as Oregon State had 13 hits as a team. It was easily a season-high for Day, who came into the game with two hits on the year.
Starting Strong
Oregon State has now won its fourth consecutive Pac-12 series for the second time in three seasons. The 2011 club won its first seven league series. The 2006 club, the first of two to win a national champuonship, also won its first four league series.
Offense Strikes Big
Oregon State unloaded offensively Saturday, collecting 13 hits against Utah. It was the most hits for OSU since tallying 13 against San Diego on March 30. The 13 hits pushed Oregon State to a .249 team batting average in Pac-12 Conference play, up from .234 prior to the game.
Pitching, Meanwhile
Andrew Moore finished with his fourth quality start in eight appearances this season, allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings Saturday. Amazingly, the OSU pitching staff's ERA in Pac-12 play jumped to 1.74 from 1.62. The overall team ERA, meanwhile, is now 1.92.
Barnes Keeps Going Strong
Oregon State senior Ryan Barnes pushed his hit streak to nine games with a 1-for-3 effort Saturday, driving in a run with a double in the first. He is 14-for-37 (.378) with two runs driven in and two doubles during the streak. He has led off in six of the nine games during the streak.
Can Surpass 2005, 2007 And 2011
A win Sunday for the Beavers would put Oregon State at 28-6 on the year, which would surpass the program's best record through 34 games, which is 27-7. That was achieved in 2005, 2007 and 2011.
Singles
• Oregon State's team ERA has remained less than 2.00 for 31 consecutive games. It was at it's highest the first two games of the season when it remained at an even 2.00.
• OSU is 12-1 when getting a quality start this season.
• The Beavers are 18-3 when scoring first and 8-1 at Goss Stadium.
