OSU men will feature four boats in the event on Lake Natoma, Sunday morning
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s rowing team will travel to Northern California this weekend, where they will compete in the Pac-12 Championships, in Rancho Cordova on Lake Natoma.
As a team OSU will bring four boats to the conference championships, which will also feature Pac-12 member schools Washington, California, Stanford, Washington State and Colorado. The Beavers will race their Varsity Eight, Junior Varsity Eight, Freshmen Eight, and Varsity Four boats on Lake Natoma Sunday.
“Pac-12 Championships this year will be a real test for our athletes,” said OSU head coach Steve Todd. “We will need to be peaked and primed to perform on Sunday morning.”
The Championships are scheduled to get underway at 9:15 a.m. with the F8, where the Beavers are seeded fourth and then continue with the V4+ at 9:45 a.m., where they boast a No. 3 ranking.
The third seeded JV8 will take to the waters at 10:15 a.m., followed by the V8 boat at 10:45 a.m., which was awarded a No. 4 seed.
“The Varsity has really made some great improvements over the past few weeks and the latest lineup seems to be picking up speed each day,” Todd said of his top crew’s strides on the water.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at 11:30 a.m., once competition on Lake Natoma is completed and a conference champion is crowned.
“Lake Natoma is one of the best courses in the nation,” Todd said. “This weekend will be our first time racing there this season; but we hopefully will return when the national championships are hosted there in a few more weeks.”
Fans can follow the action via live results provided by JAMCO at this link. The Pac-12 Championships will also be televised via tape delay on the Pac-12 Networks, Saturday, May 25. Check local listings for times.
Admission to the Pac-12 Championships is $5 and parking, managed by the State of California Parks Department, is $10. Directions, venue information and additional coverage can be found at the Pac-12 Rowing Championships page found here.
