Women?s Soccer Set For Eight Television Matches On Pac-12 Networks

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women’s soccer team will be featured eight times on the Pac-12 Networks this upcoming season, beginning with a visit by the Texas Longhorns on Friday, Aug. 30, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
It’s the second straight season the Beavers will have eight of their matches on television, which provides excellent exposure for the program and student-athletes.
“I think it is a great experience for our student-athletes to have their games televised and it shows how far our sport has come,” Oregon State head coach Linus Rhode said.
Six of the eight televised games will be played at Paul Lorenz Field at Patrick Wayne Stadium, including the season finale against Oregon in the Civil War Series, presented by Pacific Source, Your Local Ford Stores, Wells Fargo and McDonald’s.

The 2013 schedule includes 20 matches with four of them against teams that finished in the top eight in last season’s final NSCAA Coaches poll -- No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 Florida State, No. 6 UCLA and No. 8 Florida.
It will mark the first-ever time the Beavers will face Florida State and Florida when they make the cross country trip to open the season, beginning in Tallahassee on Friday, Aug. 23 and finishing in Gainesville on Sunday, Aug. 25 with both matches set for 4 p.m. PT (7 p.m. ET).
Oregon State will open its home slate against Texas, in another first-time meeting, and then play Wisconsin for just the second time in school history. The Beavers and Badgers met for the first time on Sept. 5, 1999 in Corvallis in a match that ended in a 1-1 tie.
In addition, Oregon State will play non-conference games against UC Irvine (Sept. 6) and Hawai’i (Sept. 8) in the Nike Invitational, Cal State Northridge (Sept. 12) and Gonzaga (Sept. 15) on the road, and Cal Poly (Sept. 20) at home.
Last season the Beavers defeated Cal Poly, 3-1, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Gonzaga, 2-0, at home, but lost to UC Irvine, 1-0, at Paul Lorenz Field. Oregon State is 3-1 all-time against Cal State Northridge and 3-0 versus Hawai’i, with the last meeting against the Rainbow Wahine coming in 2002.
Pac-12 play begins with a televised home tilt against Washington on Sunday, Sept. 29 before hitting the road to the battle the Mountain schools (Colorado on Oct. 4 and Utah on Oct. 6). Five of the final eight regular-season matches will be at home, including visits from Arizona (Oct. 11), Arizona State (Oct. 13), California (Oct. 25) and Stanford (Oct. 27) before the Civil War on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Ten of Oregon State’s opponents -- Arizona State, Cal State Northridge, California, Florida, Florida State, Stanford, UCLA, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin -- all advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year.
Oregon State just missed advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year this past season after finishing with an 11-6-3 record, 3-5-3 in conference play. The Beavers won 43 games between 2009 and 2011, by far the most in a three-year stretch, when they reached postseason play each time.
The Pac-12 Networks announced its women’s soccer schedule on Wednesday, which features 58 live televised contests and 40 conference games. Women’s soccer is the marquee event on the Networks’ telecast schedule Friday and Sunday afternoons during the fall with additional primetime matchups on Monday and Thursday. Pac-12 Network personalities Krista Blunk, Tammy Blackburn, Anne Marie Anderson and Kyndra de St. Aubin also return to rotate broadcasting duties throughout the season.
