In his second season on the staff, Nelson helped OSU to a record of 20-13 in 2024-25, posting the program's third 20-win season in the last 35 years. The team reached 20 wins in the regular season for the first time since the 1989-90 season. Michael Rataj earned first-team All-WCC honors, while Parsa Fallah was named to the second team.
Nelson returned to his alma-mater in 2023-24. A player from 2010-14, Nelson's name is featured throughout the Oregon State record books, as he sits sixth in career points (1,745), fifth in career 3-pointers (179) and third in career free throws made (486).

A two-time All-Pac-12 honoree, Nelson scored over 30 points six times during his career. Following his time at Oregon State, the guard embarked on a six-year professional career, which featured stops in Italy, Mexico, France and New Zealand. Prior to joining the OSU staff, Nelson has been working outside of sports, serving as an advisor for a commercial real estate firm.
Nelson helped the Beavers continue their growth in 2023-24. Jordan Pope was named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention, and Oregon State's season was highlighted by a Jan. 25 win over No. 9 Arizona.
