Mary Anne Gerzanick-Liebowitz is in her second year as assistant coach at Oregon State. Prior to her appointment at OSU she was the head coach for the Hillsdale College Swimming Team from 2001-2007. During her tenure at Hillsdale College, she qualified its inaugural NCAA swimmer for the 2002 NCAA Championships and coached team captain Colleen Rickard into the top-16 in the country which gave her All-American status in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly. While at Hillsdale she re-wrote the record board and gained scholarship opportunities for the women's program.
Prior to her arrival at Hillsdale College, Gerzanick-Liebowitz had been an assistant coach at the Division I level and a head coach at the Division III level. She has had the opportunity to work with Olympic coaches Mark Schubert, Richard Quick and Skip Kenney while working at the Stanford National Swim Camps. Additionally, she coached the Swim with Schubert Swim Camps for nine years, seven of which were as the head counselor.
She also worked the last two summers with the Auburn University Swim Camps with Coaches David Marsh and Richard Quick and with Coach Jack Baurle at the University of Georgia. She implements many of the new and innovative stroke techniques drills and strategies that Olympic champions have utilized and which have given her invaluable insight into goal setting, training and motivation techniques.
Gerzanick-Liebowitz has been recently honored by the American Swimming Coaches Association by being the first recruited ASCA Fellow. Additionally, she is currently the first Vice President of the ASCA and has presented at the ASCA World Clinic as well as attending to her Board duties. She was an Assistant Manager for the Junior National Swimming Team in December 2007-January 2008 in Melbourne, Australia.
Coach Gerzanick-Liebowitz received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University. She received a Masters degree in Sport Psychology and Athletic Counseling from Springfield College and her sixth year in Counseling and Psychological Services.
