Cory Crooks finished his third season in Corvallis as a part of the coaching staff, helping lead the Beavers to their second Pac-12 title in three seasons, the 23rd and 25th in program history.
During the season, three student-athletes - Maximo Renteria (125), Nash Singleton (141) and TJ McDonnell (184) - ran the table and won individual conference titles and advanced to their first NCAA Championships in Philadelphia.
Trey Munoz (184) capped the 2023-24 season with his third-place finish at the 2024 NCAAs after his individual Pac-12 championship. It not only was Munoz's second consecutive top-six finish but also marked the second student-athlete in the Pendleton era to finish top-four at the NCAAs. Gill Coliseum saw a wrestling-crowd record (8,540) against top-ranked Penn State to open the home slate for 2024-25.
A former student-athlete for the Beavers, Crooks transferred from Arizona State for the 2021-22 season an NCAA Tournament appearance. In his lone season at OSU, he went 17-11 at 149 lbs. and went 2-2 in Detroit. At the Pac-12 Championships, he finished third behind a 3-1 record as the fourth seed.
Prior to joining the Beavers, Crooks competed for fellow Pac-12 foe, Arizona State. In his final season in Tempe, he earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament following a third place finish at the Pac-12 Championships and a personal-best nine wins in the regular season. He won six consecutive matches to take fifth place in the U23 Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska.
In his final two seasons in Arizona, he helped the Sun Devils to back-to-back Pac-12 crowns.
As a prep student-athlete, Crooks was named the Deer Valley Unified School District Athlete of the Year and wrapped up his high school career with a state championship in 2016.
Crooks graduated from ASU with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Real Estate in December 2020.
