Hank Hager is in his 19th year year at Oregon State, and fourth as an assistant athletic director of Integrated Communications. He works directly with the football, baseball and men's golf teams. While at OSU, he has also worked with the women's basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams while also overseeing the department's social media efforts. He handled all media relations and social media efforts for 2019 National Player of the Year, Adley Rutschman, who was also selected first overall in that year's MLB Draft. Hager also spearheaded media coverage for the No. 1 overall selection in the 2024 MLB Draft, Travis Bazzana.
During his 18-year tenure with Oregon State Baseball, the Beavers won the 2018 National Championship and claimed Pac-12 titles in 2013, 2014 and 2017 while advancing to the postseason 14 times. Eight Beavers have been selected in MLB's first round during his Oregon State tenure.
Hager has worked with 12 NFL draft selections since he began working with the football program in 2018, in addition to All-Americans Hamilcar Rashed Jr., Jermar Jefferson, Avery Roberts, Nathan Eldridge, Anthony Gould, Kitan Oladapo and Taliese Fuaga. He also successfully nominated and promoted Academic All-Americans in Jefferson and Timmy Hernandez.
He has experience with USA Baseball, first with the 14U National Team in 2010 and the Collegiate National Team in 2011 during a tour of New England, North Carolina and Omaha, Neb.
Prior to coming to Corvallis, he spent three years at Auburn, where he worked with the football and softball teams. During his tenure at Auburn, Hager worked with five NFL First-Round Draft selections and his 2006 football program "Auburn Illustrated" was rated best in the nation by CoSIDA. Hager served as the media relations director for the Eugene Emeralds in 2003 and was a communications intern with the Portland Beavers in 2002. Hager began his tenure in media relations as an intern with the San Jose Sharks of the NHL in 2001.
Hager graduated from the University of Oregon in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in journalism, focusing in public relations and newswriting. A native of San Jose, Calif., he is a member of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
He and his wife, Terra, have one daughter, Kylie.
