Jeff Macy is one of the most respected individuals in the profession and possesses a unique experience level of athletic success combined with professional and intercollegiate athletic experience.
Macy, in his second tenure at OSU, oversees the Beavers’ nationally recognized sports performance staff that works with 500-plus student-athletes. He was named director of sports performance at Oregon State University in June of 2013 and was subsequently promoted to associate athletic director for sports performance.
He originally spent two-plus years at OSU as the head strength and conditioning coach starting in 2006, before serving in the same role with the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks for five years.
A 1993 graduate of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Macy previously worked in the NBA as the Chicago Bulls’ assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2001 through 2006.
Macy was the strength and conditioning coach at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., for nearly four years prior to his appointment with the Bulls. He also is a strength and conditioning consultant.
His athletic career includes capturing titles at the 1991 and 1993 USA Weightlifting National Championships, and was an athlete at the U.S. Olympic Training Center for four years. The former American record holder participated in the Olympic Trials in 1992 and the World Championships in 1993.
Macy is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a USA Weightlifting Senior Coach.
He and his wife, Barb, are the parents of a son, Will and daughter, Claire. Will graduated from Oregon State in 2021. Claire is a 2024 graduate of Quincy.
