Oregon State alum Matt Brooks joined the Integrated Communications staff in February of 2024 and currently serves as the primary communications contact for Beaver gymnastics, women's soccer and men's and women's rowing.

Brooks hit the ground running upon his return to OSU, managing day-to-day communications efforts for his assigned sports while also helping at the Portland Region Sweet 16 / Elite 8 soon just one month after starting in Corvallis. Since then, he’s moderated all press conferences at the 2024 NCAA Baseball Corvallis Regional and 2025 NCAA Baseball Corvallis Super Regional, led communications efforts in support of gymnast Jade Carey during her journey to a pair of medals with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and again when she was named the 2025 AAI Award winner, which is likened to the Heisman of NCAA Gymnastics.

Before joining the staff at Oregon State, Brooks spent nearly nine months as the Sports Information Coordinator at Utah Tech, where he was the primary contact for Trailblazer men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and softball, while also heading the stats team on football game days. During his time in St. George, Utah, Brooks was also one of two full-time staff members who led the creative content team.

He got to Utah Tech by way of Western Illinois University, spending two years as a graduate assistant in the WIU Athletic Communications office. During his time in Macomb, Brooks was the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball and softball, also serving as the secondary football contact after leading communications efforts for the Leatherneck men's basketball program during his first year. He graduated from Western Illinois with his master's degree in Sport Management in May of 2023.

Originally from Oregon City, Ore., Brooks is a 2021 graduate of Oregon State, earning his bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication with a minor in Applied Journalism. While a student at OSU, he worked as an intern in the Beavers’ Athletics Communication office after getting his start in sports at Orange Media Network (OMN).
