Jorgensen Suffers Upset In OSU Loss

BOISE, Idaho - Oregon State, ranked 22nd nationally, finished its weekend road trip with a 27-8 loss to No. 20 Boise State in Pacific-10 wrestling Sunday afternoon. The Beavers (9-7 overall, 5-3 Pacific-10) got victories from 125-pounder Nathan Navarro, 174-pounder Nathan Coy and eighth-ranked heavyweight Jason Cooley in the loss.
OSU now returns home for its final dual meet of the season, as the Beavers will meet Oregon at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Civil War, presented by the Northwest Dodge Dealers. The meet will be the annual Beaver Wrestling Homecoming, will all former Oregon State wrestlers encourged to attend.
For Boise State (8-3, 4-0), Sunday's win was its seventh straight dual meet victory.
OSU's Eric Jorgensen, ranked fourth nationally at 157 pounds, was upset by seventh-ranked Larry Quisel of Boise State. Quisel placed third in the nation last season but had dropped behind Jorgensen in this season's national rankings as the OSU wrestler won 24 straight matches, Jorgensen is now 25-3 this season.
With his win at 125 pounds, Navarro has now won seven of his last eight matches and is 16-10 this season. At 174 pounds, Coy has won nine of his last 13 matches and is 17-10 this season.
