FRESNO, Calif. - Marvin Sorto scored the game's lone goal at the 5:30 mark to give Fresno State a 1-0 victory over Oregon State in Pacific-10 Conference men's soccer action Friday night.
Makoto Anderson assisted Sorto's goal, which he netted from 10 yards out.
Oregon State (11-5-0, 2-4 Pac-10) entered the game averaging 16.1 shots per game, but was outshot 14-8 by the Bulldogs (4-8-4, 1-4-1). OSU's leading scorer Alan Gordon had three shots on goal for the Beavers, who were held to six shots on goal as a team.
OSU keeper Peter Billmeyer, who now trails Bryan Hill by 20 saves for the OSU career lead, made seven saves, all in the second half.
The two teams met last Sunday, with OSU coming out on top 5-1 after giving up an early goal. A win tonight for the Beavers would have tied the school record for victories in a season.
Oregon State will face No. 2 UCLA 11 a.m. Sunday.
