CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - David Lucas and Nick DeWitz each had 22 points and nine rebounds as Oregon State beat Oregon 76-72 Saturday, avenging an earlier Civil War loss in Eugene.
Aaron Brooks had 21 points and Malik Hairston had 20 for the Ducks (11-8, 3-7 Pacific-10) who have lost five straight conference games and now sit alone in ninth place.
The Beavers (12-9, 4-6) had been reeling since a 74-64 loss to Oregon Jan. 8, dropping five of six games.
Oregon had a 36-33 rebounding advantage but 21 turnovers kept the Ducks from capitalizing on big plays.
The Beavers led 34-30 at the half on the strength of DeWitz's 11-point first half.
Freshman Bryce Taylor pulled the Ducks into a tie, first converting a three-point play and then burying a 3-pointer to knot the game at 62.
But Chris Stephens and David Lucas both made two free throws and DeWitz hit a 3 to give the Beavers a seven-point lead with 1:53 left.
Brooks was fouled by Beaver guard Lamar Hurd while shooting a 3 with two seconds left. He made all three foul shots, but J.S. Nash hit one of two free throws to put the game out of reach.
Stephens had 11 points for Oregon State. Jordan Kent had nine points and eight rebounds for the Ducks.
