What They Are Saying

Ben Bertrand Coach, just want to congratulate you on your 500th win at Oregon State. It was a pleasure to be a part of a large number of those victories. I also wanted to thank you for everything you taught me about competition, preparation, coaching, teaching, parenting, and the list goes on. I take the lessons I learned from being a part of OSU baseball into everything I do professionally and personally. I also want to let you know that you have touched so many lives with your success at OSU. I get positive comments about you and the program all the time from random people who find out I played at OSU. People are constantly saying what a great guy you come off as on TV, and that they wish their son could play for a guy like you. Congratulations on your milestone. I wish you and your family all the best. Go Beavs. |

Mitch Canham Coach, you have always been so humble and given all the credit to us players and others around you, but I sure hope you know how much of an engine you are to our successes in baseball and in life. Thank you so much for being a part of my family and bringing me into yours. People like you and my little brother always do little acts of kindness without asking for any recognition in return, and that has inspired me to be a better man. Thank you. Truly, congrats in all of your accomplishments and I'm looking forward to see the other great things you do in life. |

Darwin Barney I think of all the hours I have put into baseball, and the time and effort it takes to even try to be successful at this game. And then I think about the time that you have spent thinking about me, and my career, and all the others who have played for you. You truly have given me the tools to be a better person on and off the field. I'm so happy for you and your family, and the accomplishments you have had. Because of you I have the opportunity to keep playing this game we have given our lives to. And for that I will be forever grateful. Congratulations on 500. And to many more to come. |

Cole Gillespie Coach Casey, I just want to congratulate you on your 500th win. It's quite the accomplishment. It shows me that you know how to win and that you have been around for awhile. Congratulations and good luck the rest of the year. |

Tyler Graham Coach Casey not only has helped develop my baseball skills on the field, but he has also helped mold me into the person I am today. He has been a tremendous asset in my development as both a player and a person. What has made him successful is that he holds his players accountable through responsibility. For that, I am very thankful. |

Kevin Gunderson Hey Coach Casey, I want to congratulate you on your 500th victory. What an accomplishment that is. I'd personally like to thank you for everything you've done for me; giving me the chance to play at Oregon State and giving me the opportunity of pursuing my dream of playing professional baseball. Thank you and good luck the rest of the year. |

Gary Henderson I am very pleased for Case and the Oregon State program. I had the pleasure of working with coach Casey for five years and he has had an extremely positive impact on college baseball in the Northwest and on Oregon State University. Good luck on the next 500! |

Andy Jenkins Coach Casey has an incrediblely competitive edge. You have to be mentally tough and hard nosed to play for him. His coaching style sets players up not only for baseball at the next level, but life beyond baseball. He's a guy you want on your side. |

Eddie Kunz Congratulations Coach Casey. You deserve it. You're a great coach and have really built Oregon State into the best. You have also shown that the Northwest has teams that are as strong as anywhere in the country. Congratulations and good luck with the rest of the year. |

Ryan Lipe Congratulations, Coach! It does not seem that long ago as a freshman that after playing Western Oregon, and then wishing you well on the upcoming trip to New Mexico, that you told me to pack my bags because I was coming too. I take great pride in being part of your first few wins at OSU, but more importantly, being part of the program that you have built at Oregon State since then. The values that you have instilled in me - hard work, discipline, teamwork, accountability, and respect - are values that have had a tremendous impact on the person that I am today. Further, the qualities of leadership, such as caring enough for my career outside of baseball to challenge me academically on my way to medical school, and then mentoring me beyond college, are qualities that I have tried to take with me in my own leadership roles. Thank you, Coach - and congratulations on achieving this impressive milestone! |

Dave Schmidt Congratulations on getting to 500 Beaver wins Pat, what an awesome accomplishment! I think back to 1995 and your first season at OSU, which was my second. The big shoes of Jack Riley to fill, returning players to win over, and a solid foundation to build from and put your mark on would greet you. Well, from my point of view, it's pretty obvious that a new era of baseball started that year, one that Beaver Nation I don't think could ever imagine. I was about 10 years too early as far as the National Championships go, but wouldn't change it for the world (well, maybe for just one of those rings, ha). On the field, the competitive fire you brought to the ballpark each day forced us players to take a good look in the mirror and figure out what it was going to take to win. Coaching us to play the game the right way, to respect the game, and to ultimately challenge ourselves to compete at the highest level, find a way to get it done, and to WIN… something you personally have done so many times now. Off the field, the lessons learned on the field carried over into the real world for me. After I packed up the cleats and started to chase other dreams, I found myself thinking about some of the fundamentals of baseball and really life that you instilled in me. Working hard for what you want, no shortcuts, integrity, character, passion, etc. So, thanks, I owe a lot to you for helping build my personal foundation for success with my family and career. I'm proud to be a Beaver, proud to part of the OSU Baseball program, and really proud to know I played for you, one of the best coaches out there. 500 is a big number and milestone for sure but the fact you've been able to influence and mentor so many of us over the years I think is an even bigger accomplishment. To Susan, the kids and you, what a journey, way to go, you deserve all the best! |

Dan Spencer What a great honor for Coach Casey to get his 500th win. It is a testimony to hard work, persistence and great players. Not to mention old age. It takes a lot of years to win that many games. Good luck Beavers the rest of the way. |

Jason Stranberg Congratulations Coach on your 500 wins. I can't tell you what a privilege it was for me to be a small part of that incredible number. It's a privilege that continues to be revealed to me every day because the skills that you developed in me as an athlete continue to translate in my life every day, both professionally and most importantly, as a husband and father. I can say with all the confidence in the world that I am just one of many who are better men today for having experienced your leadership and guidance as a ballplayer in your organization. On behalf of me and my family, "thank you" and we look forward to 1,000! |
