Oregon State falls to USC in Season Opener

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Oregon State women's swim team opened up its 2010-11 campaign with a dual meet at the University of Southern California in a Pacific-10 Conference meet Friday afternoon. The Beavers fell to the Trojans by a score of 141-112 at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
Junior Jenni Dole picked up her first dual win of the season in the 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 57.33. It is her first career dual win in the event. Her win in the 100 yard butterfly gives her 12 dual wins for her career which leads the squad. Dole also finished second in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.63.
The first event of the day, and the 2010-11 season, saw the team of Anna Humphrey, Marisa Warman, Ocean Trail and Keri Holmstrom finish second in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.10.
Sophomore Rachel O'Brien set a career best time in the 1,000 yard freestyle event with her fourth place finish time of 10:31.38 Friday. O'Brien also finished third in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.01.
Sophomore Ocean Trail also set a career best time, with hers coming in the 200 yard freestyle. She finished second in the event Friday with a time of 1:58.65.
The Beavers have a quick turnaround and travel to San Diego, Calif. to take on San Diego State in a dual meet tomorrow, Saturday, at the Aztec Aquaplex starting at 12:00 p.m.
