Martinez Sets School Record in 10K

WALNUT, Calif. - Oregon State freshman Sandra Martinez broke the school record in the 10,000 meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Ore. Thursday night with a time of 35:27.82.
Martinez's time broke the previous record of 35:31.81 set in 2006 by Ashley Younce, Martinez's time was also over a full minute and a half faster than her previous personal best set at the Erik Anderson Linfield Icebreaker earlier this spring and is the best time by anyone from Oregon State this season.
Also running in the 10,000 meter at the Mt. SAC Relays was Hannah Soza-Hodgkinson so also set a personal best in the event with a time of 36:13.50 which moves her into third all-time at Oregon State for the event.
Oregon State continues competition at the Mt. SAC Relays Friday when it will compete in the several events. The Beavers will also compete Saturday at Lewis & Clark in Portland, Ore.
