Kevin Mouton is in his third year on the Oregon State University men's basketball staff, and in his 13th year as a college coach. Mouton's relationship with head coach Jay John dates back to the 1986 season when he was a player at the University of Oregon. He later played for John at Jamestown Community College in New York and was on the coaching staff with John at Butler University in Indianapolis.
Mouton and Jeff Reinert serve as the lead assistants for John.
Mouton spent the 2001 and 2002 seasons on the staff at the University of Nebraska. He worked as an on-the-floor coach, on-campus recruiter, and as an academic advisor for the Cornhuskers' program, among other duties.
The 38-year-old coach was on the staff at St. Mary's College of the West Coast Conference in 2000 after three years at the University of New Hampshire (1997-99). He also has coaching experience at Eastern Illinois University (1996), Butler (1994-95), the Colorado School of Mines (1993), and Logan (Cal.) High School (1990-92).
Mouton is a 1989 graduate of the University of San Francisco with a bachelor's degree in sociology. He began his playing career at Oregon in 1986, transferred to Jamestown for the 1987 season, and then played two years at USF (1988-89).
He and his wife Jacquie are the parents of two sons, Adrian and Elijah, and a daughter, Whitney.
