OREGON STATE: (2004) Stephen is one of 17 returning squad members... coach Taylor's comments: "Hard-working, mentally tough. Made great improvements in the spring." (2003) Stephen redshirted as a true freshman.
ODP: Oregon State team, one year.
OUSA (CLUB): Played 14 years for the Eugene/Corvallis squad... played defense, midfield and forward for the state champions... during his career, the team also was a regional finalist and achieved a national ranking.
CHURCHILL: As a senior, had 10 goals and seven assists to lead the team in both categories... named first-team All-Midwestern League and third-team all-state... as a junior, had three goals and five assists... second on team in goals and led in assists... first-team all-league... team made state playoffs for the first time in 35 years... as a sophomore, had 12 assists to lead the team... honorable mention all-league... All-American Scholar Student-Athlete... as a freshman, honorable mention all-league after leading the team with nine goals and six assists... lettered and served as team captain four years... honor roll, National Honor Society member.
PERSONAL: Son of Connie and Steve Clayton... family includes sisters Mesha (25) and Myrlenna (27); and brother, Chris (16)... born in Springfield, Ore... majoring in Business... former club teammate Tyler Hannum plays for OSU as well... favorite athlete is Michael Jordan... "I chose to receive my education at OSU because of their great business program and its outstanding soccer program," said Clayton... biggest athletic thrill to date was, "When I was attacked by a soccer player from the opposing team in the parking lot after a state playoff game"... most memorable soccer moment was scoring six goals in a state playoff game, then advancing to the regional final.
