Oregon State vs. Washington State

Spokane Arena

Head Coach Craig Robinson
On overcoming the slow start...
"Although we scored a couple of times, we were sluggish to begin with. As the game moved on, we were better and more energized and playing more like we could play. You can weather a little bit of a slow start at home. But on the road you have to make use of your opportunities. The other team is at home and they get the momentum and it's hard to come back from that."
On the team's offense in the game...
"What wasn't in sync was the start of the game, just like on Thursday and I'm going to take the blame for that. I need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what I have to do to get this team motivated to be as good as they are at the beginning of the games as they are at the end of the games. Our offense, actually playing against a zone like that, to score 76 points is pretty good. If you take the fact we start the game off slower than we normally do, that's the difference in the amount of points we scored."
On Washington State's game...
"They shot the ball well. They shot 50 percent from three's and that's real good and they made their foul shots. They made important plays and made the hustle plays that needed to be made. Much credit goes to them. They played a terrific game. I thought that their guys made plays when they had to make them and we weren't able to make plays when we needed to make them when the game got close. We needed to come up with some loose balls and didn't. We needed to make a couple of shots and didn't."
On fighting back to tie the game in the first half and Washington State building a double-digit lead in the second half...
"It's just hard to constantly come from behind. You expend all of your energy coming back and then when it's time to play evenly, you're spent. I have to do a better job starting us off so we aren't always fighting our way back."
On the remainder of the Pac-12 season...
"There are 16 Pac-12 games left and if I thought you had to be 17-1 or 16-2, I would be worried. But I don't think you need to do that to do well in the league this year. I think you need to take care of your home games and win a few on the road."
