Oregon State 87, UCLA 84
January 19, 2012
Gill Coliseum
Corvallis, Ore.
With the win, Oregon State snapped a 13-game losing streak to UCLA that dated back to March 10, 2005 when the Beavers defeated the Bruins, 79-72, in the opening round of the Pac-10 Tournament at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
The 87 points scored against UCLA was the Beavers' highest total against the Bruins since a 97-96 double-overtime victory against No. 11 UCLA on Jan. 24, 1991.
The 87 points was also the most given up by UCLA in a game this season. The Bruins surrendered 86 to Middle Tennessee State in a loss in their second game of the season in November.
Craig Robinson now has a win against every Pac-12 team he has coached against (has yet to face Utah).
Oregon State has scored 80 or more points in 12 games this season and improved to 10-2 when reaching that total.
This is the third game this season that Oregon State has had at least two players score 20 or more points (Jared Cunningham 21 and Devon Collier 20). Cunningham and Ahmad Starks both scored 24 in a 92-85 victory over California on Jan. 5 and Cunningham (35) and Devon Collier (25) both reached the plateau in the Beavers' 82-72 win against Hofstra on Nov. 16.
Devon Collier (20 points) has scored in double-figures 13 times this season. He has also scored 20+ points in consecutive games for the first time in his career after getting 21 against Arizona State.
Angus Brandt (13 Points) has scored in double-figures nine times this season, including in seven of the past 10 games.
Brandt tied a career high with five assists. He had a quintet of dimes on Nov. 14, 2009 against South Dakota.
Jared Cunningham had four steals and now has a steal in 21 consecutive games dating back to last season to tie him for the fifth-longest streak in Oregon State history.
With the four steals, Cunningham now has 184 in his career, which ties him with Mark Radford for fourth all-time on Oregon State's career steals list.
Cunningham (21 points) and Ahmad Starks (13 points) have both scored in double-figures in 11 consecutive games.
This was the fifth time this season five or more Beavers have scored in double-figures. Oregon State is now 4-1 in those games.
