Swimming Holds Orange and Black Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's swimming team held its annual Orange and Black Meet to kick off the 2012-13 campaign. A spirited and competitive morning saw the Orange team defeat the Black, 118-116.
Five different Beavers won individual races with junior Crystal Kibby winning three. She took first in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley. Sammy Harrison was impressive with wins in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle.
“I thought Sammy came out and swam well,” head coach Larry Liebowitz said. “Overall, I was happy with how aggressive we were, and I was happy to see the team be so competitive with one another this morning.”
Freshman Amani Amr won the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke while junior Aya Fujimura placed first in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly. Senior Ocean Trail rounded out the winners with wins in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle.
The team opens the regular season next Friday at UCLA in a meet against the Bruins, UC Santa Barbara and Utah.
