
Harrison and Kibby Each Win Twice at BYU

PROVO, Utah – Freshman Sammy Harrison recorded a season-best time in her 1000-yard freestyle victory while adding a top finish in the 500-yard freestyle to pace the Oregon State swimming team at BYU on Friday evening. Despite those victories and two wins by junior Crystal Kibby, the Beavers fell, 137-95.
The Beavers opened with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:47.80. Freshman Amani Amr and juniors Aya Fujimura and Erica Brannon joined Kibby in posting OSU's second-best time in that event this season.
In the second event, Harrison stormed to a big win in the 1000-yard freestyle. Her time of 10:11.24 was over 36 seconds better than her closest competitor. Kibby posted her third-fastest time of the campaign in the 200-yard IM as she won that event by over four seconds (2:06.25). Her other victory came in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.50.
Sophomore Dakota Bloch posted a second place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.72) and a third in the 200-yard free (1:55.90) while Fujimura added a second in the 100-yard butterfly in 57.51.
The Beavers turn right around and swim at Utah tomorrow at noon PT.
