Saelee Posts Career-Best Three-Round Score

STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon State women's golf team concluded the three-day, 54-hole Stanford Intercollegiate in 16th place on Sunday behind a career-best three-round score by junior Chelsea Saelee.
The Beavers shot a 46-over 296-296-306--898 at the par-71, 6,130-yard Stanford Golf Course to finish 16th in a field that included five teams ranked among the top 10 in the nation. No. 4 Stanford and No. 6 USC tied for the team title with a 15-under 837 and No. 10 UCLA finished third with a 14-under 838.
Saelee had a strong showing with a team-best tie for 24th place after posting rounds of 70-71-73 for a 1-over 214, which is her best career three-round score at Oregon State, bettering the 3-over 216 she shot at this event two years ago. The 1-over three-round score also equals the fifth-best performance by a Beaver golfer in school history.
A native of Seattle, Wash., Saelee had nine birdies over the three rounds and nothing worse than a bogey to lead Oregon State in scoring all three days.
“It was great to see Chelsea find some success with a top-25 finish in a very competitive field,” Oregon State head coach Sammie Chergo said. “As for our team performance, this top event full of top-25 teams serves as a good benchmark as to where we are and where we want to be. I am confident our team will keep working hard and learning, and better things are to come this year.”
Junior Ashlee Pickerell finished in a tie for 61st place with a 12-over 76-72-77--225, sophomore Krissy Peterson wrapped up play with a 17-over 78-75-77--230 for a tie for 72nd, freshman Hannah Swanson shot a 19-over 75-78-79--232 for a tie for 78th and senior Anica Yoo finished 84th with a 26-over 75-79-85--239.
Bronte Law of UCLA led wire-to-wire to claim medalist honors with an 8-under 205.
The Beavers have two weeks off before competing in their final tournament of the fall season, the Pac-12 Preview in Hawai'i on Monday, Nov. 3 and Tuesday, Nov. 4.
