Beavers Complete Sweep at Elk Lake Regatta

VICTORIA, B.C. – The Oregon State men's rowers won the Men's 4+ race Sunday morning to complete the weekend sweep winning all four races the Beavers entered at the Elk Lake Regatta.
“All in all it was a great weekend of racing for Oregon State,” interim head coach Gabe Winkler said. “I'm really proud of the guys and am excited to race again in a couple weeks.”
After winning three races in the eights on Saturday, the Beavers came back to take first and second in the Men's 4+ race. OSU's Varsity 4+ of Bobby Vernazza, Josh West, Aidan Daly-Jensen, Henry Prosser and coxed by Ben Augeri won the race in a time of 6-minutes, 11.02-seconds.
However, it was the Beavers' Second Varsity 4+ crewed by Grant Van Kampen, Taylor Heen, Martin Forde, Spencer Smith and directed by Eric Sumner, that provided the most excitement in the race, sprinting past University of Victoria from nearly a full length behind in the final 300-meters to finish second. OSU's Third Varsity 4+ consisting completely of freshmen finished fifth.
The Beavers race again in two weeks at Gonzaga Sunday, March 22.
